State police were called around 9:10 Wednesday morning for the report of a bank robbery at Wells Fargo Bank in the Shoppes at Upper Hanover, 628 Gravel Pike, about one-quarter mile north of East Greenville.

        Police arrived quickly and cordoned off the area around the bank and began questioning nearby business people for information regarding the incident.

        According to state police, the suspect, described as an African-American male, entered the bank, approached two tellers and demanded money. The tellers complied with the demand and the suspect left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash and began walking towards the Walmart Supercenter.  He fled the area by unknown means.

        The suspect was described as wearing a teal colored sweatshirt, with the hood over his head, blue jeans and tan boots.

        Police cleared the scene by noon but the bank remained closed until Friday.

     The site was the scene of two previous robberies.  In July 2009, when the building housed a branch of the Wachovia Bank, it was robbed in a daylight armed robbery. Prior to that, in May 2009, the bank was robbed by a suspect who jumped over the counter separating the customers from the bank tellers and demanded money from four tellers who were working behind the counter at the time.

             In November of 2010, three Philadelphia men were convicted of those robberies.  Dominique Johnson, 22, Amin Dancy, 23, and Christopher Montague, 22, were convicted of the Upper Hanover robbery as well as others in Philadelphia, Upper Darby and Bensalem.

        The United States Third Circuit Court of Appeals upheld their conviction after a 2012 appeal.
