Alice G. Long
Alice G. (Boon) Long, 68, of Hereford, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2013 at Grand View Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of Barry M. Long celebrating 44 years of marriage on June 22, 2012.
Born in Ede, Netherlands, she was a daughter of the late Aalt G. and Gijsbertzje (Veenhof) Boon.
She worked as the Office Manager at Cook Technology in Green Lane for 20 years then as a Family Services Worker for Montgomery County Head Start in Pottstown for 15 years. She also worked part-time for many years at Rockwell’s Restaurant in Green Lane.
She was a member of St. John’sLutheranChurch, Sumneytown where she served on the Altar Guild of the church.
She will be sadly missed by her husband; two children, Theresa E., wife of Christopher Hasson of Pennsburg and Troy B. Long and wife, Stephanie of Red Hill; two sisters, Veeny, wife of Dick Jefferson and Bertha, wife of James Lukawski, all of Iowa; three grandchildren, Emily Hasson and Jackson and Paige Long and many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she is predeceased by two brothers, Jacob Boon and her twin brother, William Boon.
A funeral service was held last Saturday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 3104 Main Street, Sumneytown with Rev. Rebecca Eisenhart officiating. Burial followed Frieden’s UnionCemetery. A viewing was held last Friday evening at the Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, EastGreenville and also last Saturday morning at the church.
