Police: Man Tried Kidnapping Girl from Porch
Written by Kelly Chandler, Staff Writer
2013-02-13

A man being described as a young Asian or Hispanic is wanted in connection with an attempted kidnapping in Trumbauersville, state police said Monday.

According to reports, an 11-year-old borough girl was near a home at 22 North Main Street when she was approached by the man around 6:15 Sunday night.
Police said the man made inappropriate sexual comments to the girl and later grabbed her arm, attempting to pull her from the porch of the home. Officials said the girl had walked onto the porch when she was approached by the man.
State police said the girl was able to get away and ran from the suspect. She and another juvenile reportedly saw the man get into what they described as a green sparkly Mercedes with three other occupants in the neighboring parking lot of Fino’s La Cantina restaurant.
Due to the ongoing investigation, state police said they couldn’t comment on whether or not the restaurant had surveillance cameras that could aid their investigation.
The suspect is described as 18-30 years old, with brown hair, brown eyes, heavy set build with a goatee.
Trumbauersville Borough Administrator Larry Smock said the 11-year-old victim and a female friend were playing in the snow adjacent to the restaurant when they were approached, according to accounts. To his knowledge, there’s been no other sightings of the suspect or a vehicle matching that description.
“[Trumbauersville] has a population of 975 people, it’s a neighborly community,” Smock said of the borough. Everybody knows everybody, they help each other. People should contact state police if they know anything.”
Attempts to reach Mayor Melissa Baine for comment were unsuccessful as of press time.
Anyone with information on the suspect or suspect’s vehicle is asked to call Tpr. Rachel Jones at PA State Police, Dublin barracks, at (215)249-9191.
        This case continues.
