Marlborough Police Investigating Sumneytown Shooting
Written by Larry Roeder, Editor
2013-01-10

More than a dozen police officers from at least six police departments responded to a report of “shots fired” around 7 p.m. Wednesday night in the 3000 block of Main Street in Sumneytown.

Police were dispatched to the address for a report of a domestic dispute between a man and a woman.  The woman went to a neighbor’s house to call for help and waited there for police to arrive.

According to a police report, a Marlborough Township police officer responded and witnessed a shooting upon his arrival.  Police Chief Darren Morgan reported that a neighbor fired a handgun into the ground.  The officer and the couple on the scene were not hit.

The neighbor, a 66-year-old man, was taken into custody.  Police are investigating to find a reason why the man fired the gun.
