Edith M. Gehris
2012-12-20
Edith M. Gehris, 95 years, of Allentown, formerly of Trexlertown, passed away on Thursday, December 13, at Lehigh Center in Macungie. She was the widow of Lewis A. Gehris.
Born in Fogelsville, she was a daughter of the late Augustus and Bessie (Muthard) Beitler.
Retiring in 1983, she was employed as a punch operator for 20 years at Allen Organ Inc. in Macungie. Edith was a member of New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ in East Greenville.
Survivors: son, Gerald and wife Marie, of Allentown; sisters: Glenna Swoyer, Katherine Krause and Elsie Sebring; brother, Herbert Beitler; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Esther Bennicoff, Erma Erb, Helen Moyer, and Elda Wanamaker, and brothers, Stanley and Arthur Beitler.
Sevices were held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 18, in New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ, 1070 Church Road, East Greenville, with the Rev. James R. Roth officiating. Visitation was from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the church. Interment was in the church cemetery. Arrangements by Keller Funeral Homes, Inc., in Fogelsville.
