Earl H. Shankweiler
Earl H. Shankweiler, 96, of Vera Cruz Road South, Emmaus, passed away Saturday at Lehigh Center. He was the husband of Althea L. (Weil) Shankweiler. They were married 72 years on June 8.
Born in Hensingersville, he was a son of the late Llewellyn and Stella (Bauder) Shankweiler. He retired after working at Air Products for over 30 years. He was a member of Church of the Good Shepherd U.C.C., Alburtis, and of Citizens Fire Company of Upper Milford and Upper Milford Western District Fire Company. Among his interests were automobiles, The Earl Keller Fan Club, and following Crazy Willie and the Country Rangers.
Surviving with Althea are a son, William L., husband of Paulette Shankweiler, of Zionsville; daughters, Delores M., wife of Paul Ruth, of Macungie, and Gloria J., wife of Marvin Holland, of Emmaus; grandchildren, Michael Ruth, Kathie McBride, Alan Ruth, Paul Shankweiler and Cindy Ruchinski; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, Paul and Charles Shankweiler, and by grandson, Ronald Shankweiler.
His funeral was at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in Schmoyer Funeral Home, 8926 Brookdale Road, Breinigsville. Calling hours were 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday. Interment in Lehigh Zion Cemetery. www.schmoyerfuneralhome.com
