Lawrence J. “Larry” Yokl, Jr.
Lawrence J. “Larry” Yokl, Jr., 76, of Upper Hanover Township, died Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at LifeQuest Nursing Center. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Bleiler) Yokl, celebrating 54 years of marriage on November 23, 2011.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Anna (Miller) and Lawrence J. Yokl, Sr.
He retired as a chemical coating specialist after working many years for Sherwin Williams. He also worked as a police officer for the Alburtis, Upper Perkiomen and Oley police departments for many years.
He was a member of Palm Schwenkfelder Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a life member of the NRA and a member of the Hereford and Boyertown gun clubs. He also enjoyed playing Santa Claus for many different holiday parties.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Patricia; son, Larry B. Yokl and wife, Sally of Alburtis; sister, Betty Johnson and husband, Bill of Denver, Colorado; aunt, Marie Houston of Washington State; granddaughter, Brittany Yokl; four step-grandchildren, Kathy, Jason, Shannon and Matthew and five step great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Palm Schwenkfelder Church, 833 Gravel Pike, Palm, with Rev. Nicholas L. Pence officiating. Burial followed in Palm Schwenkfelder Cemetery. Family and friends were invited to a viewing from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at church. Arrangements were entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville.
