On Monday, August 6, a ground breaking for the new 800-square-foot building expansion at the Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, Washington Street, East Greenville was held.
The new addition addition designed by Godshall Kane Architects will feature an on-site crematory, the only one in the Upper Perkiomen Valley, larger handicap bathrooms and state-of-the art refrigeration and preparation room area. The addition will be built by Family Builders.
It will also feature a gathering area for family and friends in the crematory area for those families that may wish to witness the initial process. For those that wish to be a little further removed, there will be a witnessing window in an adjacent room.
It has taken almost a year to obtain all the approvals and permits necessary to operate the crematory. The crematory will exceed all of the regulations set forth by the East Greenville Borough and the Dept. of Environmental Protection.
