Verna M. (Derr) Frey
Verna M. (Derr) Frey, 95, widow of Cernall A. of Quakertown, formerly of Red Hill and Palm, died on Saturday, July 28 in St. Luke’s Hospital, Quakertown.
Born in Hosensack, she was a daughter of the late Wilmer and Stella Derr.
Verna worked as a sewing machine operator for many years, working for the former Rosenau Manufacturing Co., Red Hill, Pennsburg Clothing Factory and Styer’s Convalescence Home in Pennsburg. She retired in 1976.
She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Pennsburg, and of the Upper Perkiomen Senior Citizens Center in East Greenville.
Verna is survived by two daughters, Virginia Eppler, wife of Arnold, of Boyertown and Betty Schuler, of Red Hill; a brother, Robert Derr, of Bechtelsville; two sisters, Mabel Schmetzle, wife of Carl, of Allentown and Helen Fegley, of Pennsburg; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; eight great great-grandchildren. Along with her husband, she was predeceased by a grandson, Dean Schuler; and several brothers and sisters.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 3, 2012 in St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Penn Street, Pennsburg, with Rev. William A. Fluck, Pastor Emeritus officiating.
