Helen Gibbs (nee O’Callaghan) passed into eternal life on Monday, July 2, 2012. She was 89 years old. She was the widow of the late James Gibbs.
Mrs. Gibbs was a person of devout and abiding faith in God. It was edifying to her family and friends to see her go to church and walk up the aisle to receive the Eucharist, despite her infirmity. She never raised her voice, nor said a bad word. She was the embodiment of what it means to be a lady. She was gracious to all, pleasant in her manner, and refined in her speech. She followed politics with a passionate interest, but the love of her life was her husband and her children of whom she was most protective. Helen O’Callaghan Gibbs was a true gentlewoman.
Surviving are her children: Mary Gibbs Kershner, Helen Pohlot, Frances Kail, Teresa Teti, and William Gibbs, Ph.D. Along with her beloved husband James, she was predeceased by her daughter, Anne.
Burial was at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Doylestown, on July 6, 2012.
