HOWARD E. “JIM” LANDIS
Howard E. “Jim” Landis, 82, of Goldsboro, Maryland, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore, Maryland.
He was born April 19, 1930 on the family farm on Sunset Road, Schwenksville, Limerick Township to the late George W. and Florence J. (Ekly) Landis.
Howard was a farmer and worked for Mrs. Smith’s Pie Co. in Pottstown for several years. After the family farm was sold he moved to Goldsboro, Maryland. In 1983 he purchased his farm there where he continued to farm with his brother, Henry, and nephew, George.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Teamster’s Union of Central Pennsylvania. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and spent his spare time walking his farm, fields and woods.
He is survived by his brother, Henry L., husband of Ruth Jones Landis, of Goldsboro, Maryland; two sisters, Peggy Pennypacker Romahn, widow of William Pennypacker and Henry Romahn, of Pottstown, and Nancy D., wife of Norman P. Hunsberger, Gravel Pike, East Greenville, and ten nieces and nephews.
His funeral service was held Friday, June 1, 2012 at the Fleegle & Helfenbein Funeral Home, Greensboro, Maryland with Pastor Richard Landis officiating. Burial followed in the Greensboro Cemetary, Greensboro, Maryland.
