Annual parade and services mark Memorial Day observance

Veterans stand at attention giving a salute during Memorial Day services Monday morning at the Red Hill veterans memorial.

Guest speaker at this year's Memorial Day observance held at New Goshenhoppen church was Commander Ray Kochey, US Navy Reserves of Bechtelsville.

Frances Koffel, American Legion Poppy Girl Kylie Brinckman and Jean Moser carry the wreath to the memorial stone of Memorial Day honoree Raymond C. Schmoyer.

Members of the firing squad fire a volley at the New Goshenhoppen Church cemetery over the marker for WWII B-17 Gunner Staff Sergeant Raymond C. Schmoyer, who was lost at sea when his plane was shot down.

US Navy veteran and Red Hill VFW member Ron Sparks rode his ATV, carrying flags of the military, in the parade.

The Upper Perkiomen High School marching band, along with the Red Hill Band, provided music for the parade and services.

?
Girl Scouts from across the valley joined together to march in the parade along with area Boy Scouts and youth groups.
