KENNETH R. LATSHAW

Kenneth R. Latshaw, 78, of Kutztown Road, Pennsburg, died Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest. He was the husband of Rita P. (Yerger) Latshaw, celebrating 56 years of marriage on October 22.

Born in Perkiomenville, he was a son of the late Russell and Esther (Schultz) Latshaw.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Korea.

He worked as a mechanic at Latshaw’s Garage in Gilbertsville for 39 years, retiring in 1989 and was a life member of the Gilbertsville Fire Company.

Surviving, along with his wife, are five children, Dennis M. Latshaw and wife, Kathy, of Pennsburg, Thomas C. Latshaw, widower of Beverly, of East Greenville, Theresa M. Thayer and husband, Russell, of Wilmington, Delaware, Gary L. Latshaw and companion Marlene Grow, of Boyertown and Brian S. Latshaw, of Pennsburg; a sister, Anna Derr and husband, Paul, of Eshbach; six grandchildren, Dennis, Jr., Chad, Amanda and Jaclyn Latshaw and Russell and Steven Thayer and three great-grandchildren, Caden, Colby and Teagan Latshaw. Along with his parents, he is predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Graber.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 1325 Klinerd Road, Pennsburg with the Rev. Robert A. Roncase officiating. Burial follows in Holy Cross cemetery. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at church prior to the service.
