Two stories in today's Town and Country herald two different types of renewable energy efforts by local waste management systems.

            Quakertown will be using biogas electricity generation.  It is expected to generate large amounts of electricity for the borough. 

            In addition, it could also be a revenue generator for the borough.

            In Upper Hanover Township, the Upper Montgomery Joint Authority (UMJA) is preparing to use clean energy to help power its plant.  It is expected to offset 110 percent of UMJA's annual energy usage.

            It too could end up being a revenue generator.

            Both projects are expected to save taxpayers a significant amount of money.

            With the required oversight and maintenance and, of course, the proper reviews and permits, these projects could be a significant plus for the municipalities and agencies.

            In addition to taxpayer benefits, I would think that environmentalists would consider the projects a plus for the communities.  Certainly, without the baggage A! data centers may bring.
