The portion of Geryville Pike damaged late last month by heavy rain should be open by the end of August. Repairs to the road in Marlborough Township, owned by Montgomery County, are expected to last approximately three weeks, according to Megan Alt, the county's communications director.

            "At this time, the county anticipates reopening Geryville Pike by the end of the month," Alt wrote in an email message.

            Culvert repairs and roadway restoration were expected to commence Wednesday after the township completes repairs to a stormwater pipe that conflicts with the planned construction area, according to the spokesperson. Her message states that the schedule remains subject to weather conditions and other construction factors.

            Local authorities closed Geryville Pike between Campbell Road and Finland Road at 9 p.m. after rising water from an unnamed tributary of the Macoby Creek lifted the blacktop and undermined the road surface at a culvert near West Henricks Road. 

            Township Supervisor Burt Shive identified the detour as Finland Road to Upper Ridge Road to East Campbell Road.

            After the storm, maintenance crews from the Montgomery County Roads and Bridges department cleared significant storm debris from the area, including downed trees and sections of asphalt damaged by heavy floodwaters, according to Alt's email message. It states that county officials developed a detour plan and completed the scope of work needed to begin restoring the roadway.
