Milton H. Kerchner
2026-08-01

            Milton H. Kerchner, 93, formerly of Barto, PA, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, in Pennsburg Manor.  He was the widower of Mary L. (Derr) Kerchner who died on December 12, 2019, sharing 65 years of marriage together prior to her passing. 

            Born in Lenhartsville, Milton was a son of the late Clarence Kerchner and Esther M. (Berger) Bennicoff and was a member of Huff's Union Church, Alburtis. Milton honorably and faithfully served our country in The United States Army National Guard.

            Milton was employed as an upholsterer by Knoll, Inc., East Greenville, PA for 29 years until his retirement. Prior to that, He was employed by Eastern Foundry in Boyertown for 12 years. Milton was a simple man who enjoyed being around his home, woodworking and cutting grass.

            Milton is survived by his four children, Linda M. (Kerchner) Kauffman, and her significant other, Wayne G. Nester, Mertztown, Terry A., husband of Christine M. (Mierzejewski) Kerchner, Alburtis, Joyce L. (Kerchner), wife of J. George Sweeney, Perkiomenville, PA, and Sally M. (Kerchner), wife of Fredrick Melone, Fleetwood, PA; nine grandchildren Bradley, Derek, Amanda, Tyler, Tanner, Morgan, Anthony, Zachary and Samuel; and six great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Alexis, Chase, Milton, Annelyse, and Baby Richards.  He is also survived by a brother, Russell Bennicoff, Bernville, and sisters, Betty Smith, Fleetwood, and Mary Brossman, Hamburg. Along with his wife and parents, Milton was predeceased by a son in infancy in 1964, and siblings, Helen Adams, Francis Bennicoff and Fern Yerger.

            A funeral service to celebrate and honor Milton's life will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown with The Rev. Michael Todd, officiating. Burial will follow in Huff's Church Union Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.

            The family requests contributions be made in Milton's memory to Huff's Union Church, 540 Conrad Rd., Alburtis, PA 18011.

            Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., Kutztown, PA is in charge of arrangements.
