The Marlborough Township Board of Supervisors received good news about a grant and received updates on ongoing issues in the township.

            Marlborough was awarded an $8,893 PECO Green Region Open Space Program Grant, through Natural Lands, for dock expansion at Lake Skymount and for managing the invasive plants that have plagued the lake in the past few years.

            "The award recognizes the Township's strong project proposal and commitment to improving local recreational and environmental resources," wrote Township Manager/Secretary Marybeth Cody in her monthly report.

            The grant funds must be used for eligible project expenses by December 2, 2027.

Recreational equipment funded through a Greenways, Trails, and Recreation Program (GTRP) has been installed at Skymount. The public works department is finishing up work on the project.

            There is still no resolution to the disposition of the barn at Finland Road Park. Marlborough had hoped to auction off the aging and dilapidated barn last month but there were no takers.

            "We have two individuals that are interested," wrote Supervisor Burt Shive. "We'll have to see how things progress."

            In road news, a recent routine PennDOT inspection of the Reihman Road bridge revealed a problem with wear on the bridge deck's blacktop that must be corrected within six months. The township engineer and the township's public works department are looking into the matter.

            A road improvement project will start on Geryville Pike, in the near future, between East Campbell and Hoppenville roads. Montgomery County, however, has not set a specific date for the work.

            The township's planning commission has been working on an ordinance related to data centers. "I believe the [board of supervisors] will see something by August," Cody wrote in her report.

            Chairman Billy Hurst and Cody recently met with the Green Lane Fire Company.  "We went over funding and other opportunities to discuss how the township can help the fire company," Cody said.

            An electronics recycling event will be held this Saturday, July 25, at Camelot Park in Upper Hanover from 9 a.m. to noon, or until trucks are full. Marlborough residents are eligible to participate.

            The Parks and Recreation Board will hold its Wednesday, August 5, meeting at Skymount, 3073 Long Road, Green Lane, at 7 p.m., weather permitting. In case of inclement weather, the meeting will take place at the township building. Residents needing special accommodations should contact the township at 215-234-9300.

            The next monthly supervisors meeting will take place at 7 p.m., Wednesday, August 12, at the township building.
