Ben Godshall breezed through five innings on the mound Tuesday. His performance had Perkiomen's American Legion baseball team on the verge of its first Region 2 title.

             However, Quakertown prevented that celebration, scoring five runs during the final two innings to win its third regional title in four years with a walk-off victory at Memorial Park Stadium.

            Gerry Stanziola's run-scoring hit in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted the host Blue Jays to a 6-5 victory.

            Brandon Labs had an RBI-double to open the scoring in the seventh inning for Post 242, which reeled off four straight wins during the tournament's final two days – including a 15-1 victory over Post 184 the night before -- to advance to this weekend's state tournament in Williamsport. Labs finished with two hits and three runs scored.

            Godshall–who permitted just one run on three hits through the initial five innings–entered the bottom of the sixth inning with a 5-1 lead for the Indians, who reached the regional title game for the first time in 35 years. He registered five strikeouts and stranded four Blue Jays baserunners.

             Max Drews finished with two hits and drove in three runs for Quakertown (22-7), which trailed 4-0 early and 5-1 through five innings. His two-run homer in the sixth inning capped a three-run rally.

            Labs' bloop double to shallow right field sparked the flurry. He scored on Cole Reigh's double to left.

            Ahead 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh, Godshall took the mound three outs short of securing Post 184's first regional title. He retired pinch hitter Jason Marsten on a fly ball to center leading off the inning.

            Consecutive doubles by C.J. Peacher and Labs tied the game for the Blue Jays, who advanced to the title game by defeating West Lawn 4-2 earlier Tuesday. After Reich was given an intentional walk, Stanziola lined the game-winning hit over Indians center fielder Cole Graf.

            Jackson Long finished with two hits and drove in two runs for Post 184 (13-8-1), which lost in the 1991 regional title game to Boyertown. His homer to left field off Jayson Taylor leading off the top of the sixth inning staked his team to a four-run advantage.

            "I thought that was the final nail in Quakertown's coffin," Perkiomen manager Pete Schramm said.

            The Indians began the scoring in the first inning on two hits. Zane Saeger, who opened the game with a double, moved to third on Godshall's bunt hit. Saeger eventually scored on Cole Pierce's ground ball.

            They added three more runs in the third inning to go ahead 4-0. Saeger scored from second base on an errant throw on a bunt single by Jordin Dice. Rieg dove in a run on a safety squeeze. Dice scored on Long's single to left

            The Indians opened the tournament with an extra-inning win over Hellertown. They rallied for five runs on the top of the eighth inning to post a 10-5 victory on Friday, July 17.
            Their initial eight hitters reached base to open the inning. Dice's two-run double off reliever Matt Chaffier capped the outburst.
            Nate Schramm's leadoff walk sparked the flurry for Post 184, which recorded 10 hits and stole four bases. Saeger drove in the go-ahead run on a walk with the bases loaded. Godshall followed with an RBI-hit. Cole Pierce's hit by pitch made it 8-5.

            Saeger drove in a team-high three runs, scored twice and posted two hits, including a triple to open the game. Dice also drove in three runs for Post 184, which squandered a 5-1 lead. Jake Creneti registered two hits.
            Jack Rieg earned the mound victory with two shutout innings in relief. He retired all six hitters he faced, recording two strikeouts.
            Long retired the side in the eighth inning to save the franchise's first regional win in two seasons. He struck out two.
            Godshall started on the mound for Perkiomen, allowing four earned runs on six hits in five innings. He entered the bottom of the fifth inning with a 5-1 lead.
            However, the Northampton County League champions rallied for four runs in the inning. The team scored the runs on two run-scoring hits, an RBI-ground ball and a wild pitch.

            Post 184 defeated both Berks County League teams Sunday to advance to the championship round. The team utilized a multi-run rally to win both games.

            In the afternoon, the team scored four runs, three of which were unearned, in the sixth inning to defeat Boyertown 5-3. It maximized two hits and took advantage of four errors by the Berks County League regular season champions during the frame.
            Two runs scored on Jack Rieg's bases-loaded single to force a 3-3 tie. Godshall, who reached on a one-out single, scored on the hit. Pierce, who was hit by a pitch, scored on an error by Bears third baseman Mason Reinert.
            The decisive runs crossed the plate on a ball off the bat of Alex Blose. A miscue by pitcher Jake Musselman snapped the tie.
            Jackson Long tossed 3 2/3 shutout innings in relief to earn the mound victory. He scattered two hits, issued one walk and struck out three.
            Long relieved Pierce, the Indians starter, in the fourth inning after he surrendered two unearned runs. Gianni Costello's RBI-single snapped a 1-1 tie. Gavin Trainer's sacrifice fly extended Boyertown's lead to 3-1.
            Pierce lasted 3 1/3 innings, permitting one earned run on a bases-loaded walk to Luke Tyson in the second inning. He allowed two hits and struck out seven.
            The Indians forced a 1-1 tie in the top of the third. Ben Sands, who worked a one-out walk and advanced to second on a groundout, scored on an infield error on a ball off the bat of Godshall.
            Reig delivered three of his team's six hits. Godshall added a pair of singles for the team that had four base stealers thrown out.
            Gianni Costello posted two hits for the Bears (18-7-1), who committed five errors. Musselman absorbed the loss despite allowing one earned run over 5 2/3 innings.

            In the nightcap, the Indians scored five runs on four hits to secure a 7-1 victory over West Lawn in the winners' bracket final and advance to Tuesday's championship game. In the inning, Perkiomen took advantage of four hits and four errors by the Owls, who won the Berks County playoff tournament to qualify.

            Blose and Pierce delivered run-scoring hits to bookend the outburst that extended Perkiomen's 2-0 lead. In between, Sands delivered a sacrifice fly, Jackson Long crossed the plate on an error on a bunt and Saeger scored on a wild pitch.

            Pierce finished with two hits, while Godshall scored twice for Post 184, which took advantage of eight errors by West Lawn. Dice's single in the bottom of the first inning highlighted a two-run rally.

            Rieg tossed six innings to earn the victory. He permitted only an unearned run during the fifth inning. He scattered six hits and struck out six. Ben Sands struck out the side in the top of the seventh to preserve the victory.

            On Monday night, Perkiomen absorbed its first loss of the tournament. The host Blue Jays, facing elimination, needed only five innings to register a 15-1 victory.

            Labs finished with three hits, scored four runs and drove in four for Post 242, which led 14-0 after two innings. Labs homered twice and delivered an RBI-triple during an 11-run rally during the second inning.

            Quakertown sent 14 hitters to the plate during the inning.  Reich and Justin Hankinson each finished with two hits and two RBIs.

            Dice, Long and Creneti each had a hit for Post 184. Creneti scored the team's only run during the fifth inning on Rieg's ground ball.
