Despite suffering a walk-off loss in Monday's Bux-Mont League championship round,

            Perkiomen's American Legion baseball team has advanced to the Region Two Tournament for the second straight season.

            The team finished second in the league playoffs to Quakertown as Peyton Troppler's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted the Blue Jays to a 13-12 victory in the tournament title game at Hostelley Field in Upper Gwynedd. His fly ball to right field scored Gerry Stanizola, who tripled with one out off Alex Blose, Post 184's third pitcher.

            Both teams will compete in the double-elimination tournament at Memorial Park Stadium in Quakertown. The Indians (10-6-1) will take on Hellertown, the No. 1 seed from Northampton County, at 4:15 p.m. Friday.

            Post 242 (18-6), the host team, will face Lower Macungie at 7 p.m. Boyertown (17-5-1), which qualified by winning the Berks County regular season title, will face South Parkland at 10:30 a.m.

            Despite losing to Quakertown in the league's winners bracket final game on Sunday, July 12, the Indians qualified for the regionals when it was awarded a forfeit victory over Hatfield later in the day. They also received an assist from the Blue Jays, who defeated Chal-Brit 4-3, to advance.

            In the title game, Cole Pierce delivered three hits and drove in a game-high four runs for

            Perkiomen, which scored in six of seven innings. Leadoff hitter Zane Saeger delivered three hits and scored four runs.

            Ben Godshall registered four hits and drove in two runs for Post 184, which forced a 12-12 tie in the top of the seventh inning on Jackson Long's steal of home with two outs. Jordin Dice finished with a game-high four steals.

            The No. 2-seeded Indians opened the playoffs with a 3-2 victory over Chal-Brit, the No. 7 seed. Pierce struck out Daniel Boermer with the tying run in scoring position on Saturday, July 11, to clinch the victory at Bonekemper Field.

            Pierce threw just three pitches to record the save. He relieved starter Ben Godshall following a suspension from the night before.

            Godshall retired the first two hitters during the seventh inning on Friday, July 10. Brendan Kelly reached second on an infield error with two outs before the suspension.

            Dice's single scored the decisive run. The infield hit plated Schramm, who worked a two-out walk and moved to third on an infield error on a grounder off the bat of Stephen Mumford.

            Dice finished with two hits for Post 184, which scored single runs in its final three at-bats to overcome a 2-0 deficit and four errors. All three runs came with two outs.

            Mumford's RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning scored pinch runner Jacob Pedrick, who advanced to third on a single by Schramm. Blose had worked a walk to open the inning.

            Godshall, who ended up one hitter short of a complete game, struck out eight while scatting five hits. He allowed both Chal-Brit runs in the fourth inning with two outs. Braden Carfey and Jack Zwiebel delivered consecutive run-scoring hits.

            Later the same day, Pierce continued on the mound. He earned a 10-2 victory over Nor-Gwyn in the second round of the playoffs on Saturday, July 11.

            In six innings, he permitted only one earned run. Pierce worked around three hits and five walks, while striking out five during his team's final game at Bonekemper Field.

            Dice drove in a team-high three runs. His two-run double capped a pivotal rally in the fourth inning.

            Godshall and Schramm each posted two hits and scored two runs. Godshall stole two bases. Saeger, Pierce and Jackson Long each added two hits.

            Down 3-0, the Hawks had a chance to put up a large number in the fourth inning, loading the bases with one out. A wild pitch by Pierce allowed them to get within 3-1. However, he struck out the final two hitters of the inning to strand the potential winning runs in scoring position.

            The Indians responded in the bottom of the inning. Nate Schramm, who led off the fourth with a double, scored on an infield error on a grounder off the bat of Dice. Saeger hit into a triple play to end the inning.

            A four-run rally in the fifth inning allowed Post 184 to take a commanding 8-1 advantage. Dice's two-run single capped the rally. Long and Blose drove in runs on a double and a sacrifice fly, respectively.

            The Indians suffered their first loss of the tournament in the winners' bracket final on Sunday, July 12, at Nor-Gwyn's home field. They managed just four hits in a 6-3 loss to Quakertown.

            Down 4-2, Post 184 loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the sixth inning. However Blue Jays pitcher Chase Gieser allowed only one run on a walk to Blose. He retired the next three hitters on two strikeouts and a fly ball to end the rally.

            Post 242 added two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning against Long to secure Gieser's victory. Cole Reich drove in a run on a bases-loaded walk. Gerry Stanizola followed with a sacrifice fly.

            C.J. Preacher recorded the final out to save the game. William Bowen finished with two hits, including a triple, and drove in two runs for the Blue Jays.

            Pierce scored two runs for the Indians. He and Grayson Sabo each delivered run-scoring hits in the first inning. Sabo's double plated Pierce.
