Perkiomen's American Legion baseball team has maximized its roster this season. With multiple players away on vacation, and injuries, Manager Pete Schramm is never quite sure who will show up.

          "It's been a bit of a juggling act," Schramm said. Right now, we play who shows up."

            Despite that uncertainty, the Indians are 6-2 in the Bux-Mont League. On Tuesday, they won for the fifth time in their last six games.

            Cole Pierce led them to a 9-1 victory over Chal-Brit on Tuesday. He earned the mound victory, allowing one run on four hits over five innings. Pierce added three hits to help pace a 10-hit attack.

            Ben Godshall delivered three hits and scored two runs for Post 184, which scored three runs in the fourth inning at Bonekemper Field to snap a 1-1 tie. Leadoff hitter Cole Graf scored twice and stole two bases.

            Perkiomen didn't have any extra players for its rematch against Pennridge on Sunday, June 28. Still, it needed only five innings to post a 12-2 home win.

            Godshall earned the mound win by allowing two runs on two hits. He issued only one hit while striking out four.

            "Our pitching has been very consistent," the manager said.

            Jackson Long delivered a home run, a double and drove in three runs for the host Indians. His two-run shot in the third inning capped a four-run rally.

            Every member of Post 184's offense posted at least one hit, and eight of the nine hitters scored. Graf, Godshall, Long and Alex Curcio each crossed the plate twice.

             The team, which took advantage of five errors by Post 255, batted around in the third and fourth innings. In the fourth, Godshall's two-run single sparked the decisive six-run outburst. A two-run hit by Jake Creneti allowed Post 184 to invoke the 10-run rule.

            "Sometimes, [the unavailability of the players] is a bit of a concern," the manager said. "There are days when the coaching staff has to call around to find out who will show up."

            Pennridge took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning after Godshall allowed a hit, a walk, two steals and an RBI-ground ball. However, the pitcher retired the side in the second and third.

            Meanwhile, Perkiomen scored twice in the bottom of the first. Godshall was hit by a pitch with one out, advanced on a hit by Pierce and scored on two errors on the play. Pierce, who advanced to third, came home on Grayson Sabo's sacrifice fly.

            After Post 255 forced a 2-2 tie in the top of the fifth, Perkiomen built a 6-2 lead in the bottom of the inning. Curcio plated Sabo on a sacrifice fly.

            Two days earlier, the team lost 2-1 in a pitchers' duel to Pennridge. Nick Calabretti outdueled Sabo, scattering five hits over six innings. Lucas Furlong saved the game despite issuing three walks in the seventh inning on Friday, June 26.

            Sabo absorbed the loss despite permitting only two unearned runs in five innings. He permitted five hits and issued four walks while striking out six.
            Godshall delivered two of his team's five hits. Sabo scored its only run in the sixth inning. Graf finished with two stolen bases.
            Post 255 scored its runs in the first and second innings. J.P. Colon stole home during the first. Lucas Furlong drove in the other run on a ground ball.

             One day earlier, Adam Gavinski pitched Post 184 to a 9-1 victory over Hatfield. He went the distance, permitting only four base runners while striking out four.
            Godshall paced an 11-hit barrage with three and scored two runs. Stephen Mumford posted two hits, including a double, and drove in three runs on Thursday, June 25.

            Leadoff hitter Zane Saeger added two hits and scored twice for Post 184, which scored three runs in the third inning and five in the fourth to overcome a 1-0 deficit. Mumford's two-run hit highlighted the fourth inning rally.

            Mumford's offensive outburst helped the Indians sweep their season series against Plumstead. He went 3-for-4 with a triple and drove in four runs in a 12-2 home victory

            Mumford delivered a two-run single during the third inning and a two-run triple in the fourth, to highlight a pair of four-run rallies on Wednesday, June 24. Sabo and Long both added three hits as part of a 16-hit barrage.

            Sabo scored three runs. He started on the mound and tossed two shutout innings, striking out four.

            Five games remain on the Indians schedule, beginning Wednesday, July 1 at home against Doylestown. Schramm expects all 18 players should be present for the league playoffs. The manager said they are capable of making a deep postseason run.
