Honoring Those Who Served

The Upper Perkiomen Valley Memorial Day observance begins with a service at the Red Hill Veterans Memorial located on Main St. in the borough. Scouting America Troop 108 and Cub Pack 244 carry flags as they march up Main St. in Pennsburg.
Leading the Memorial Day Parade is the riderless horse, which signifies a fallen leader on their final journey, looking back one last time at their troops Veterans and attendees at Monday's Memorial Day service stand at attention during the playing of the Star Spangled Banner.
Charles Shagg, a US Army veteran who served in Vietnam, delivers the keynote address, People lined the streets in Pennsburg and East Greenville Monday morning, waving flags to participants in the parade to the New Goshenhoppen Church cemetary.
