Before every game this season, Perkiomen School baseball coach Ken Baker tells himself this is the day his team will start to hit. However, he's still waiting for the team to break out at the plate.
Despite averaging just over five hits during three recent home games, the

Panthers won two of them to remain over .500. According to Baker, the inability to deliver the key hit during the season could have added another two or three victories.
"Hitting is contagious," Baker said. "We're waiting for someone to get infected."
Last week, Perkiomen School made the most of six hits and 11 walks to register a five-inning win over Westtown School. Pete Moser and Bobby Jerez led the team to a 11-0 victory on Friday, April 18.
Moser, a sophomore third baseman from Pennsburg, delivered three hits and drove in three runs. Cole Tucholski, a sophomore from Quakertown, ended up with two hits, including an RBI triple.
Josue Trinidad scored two runs and drove in two. Jerez, a senior from Pennsburg, went the distance on the mound, scattering five hits.
The Panthers (7-5) entered the game with a .217 batting average, according to Baker. He described it as the lowest figure in years.
"We're very fortunate to have good pitching and play good defense," the coach said.
Multiple lineup changes have not provided the necessary spark. Baker claims the approach at the plate needs to improve.
"We've tried all sorts of things," he said.
Baker described Moser, who entered the stretch with a .360 batting average, as one of the team's most consistent offensive performers. Against the Moose, his two-run single during the bottom of the first inning highlighted a seven-run outburst.
Tucholski drove in a run on a two-out hit to right field. Dino Liberi added a run-scoring hit on a ground ball to third base during the inning.
In the fourth inning, Moser drove home courtesy runner Cole York with a single. Tucholski's triple to right field capped a three-run rally.
During the second of three straight home games, the Panthers managed just four hits in a 12-2 loss to Penn Charter. Two early errors allowed the visiting Quakers to go ahead 5-0 through two innings. They scored four unearned runs off starting pitcher Trevor Scott.
Penn Charter added four runs on five hits, including two doubles, during the third inning off reliever Angelo Reyes Ramos to go ahead 9-0. Perkiomen School committed four errors.
The Panthers continued their offensive struggles, posting just four hits. Jose Cueba drove in both of his team's runs on a triple during the third inning.
Trinidad, Ian Perez and Dino Liberi had their team's other hits. Perez and Liberi scored on Cueba's two-out hit.
Brice Staples contained Perkiomen School's offense on the mound. He scattered four hits over four innings of work.
On Monday, the Panthers managed six hits, but made individual runs in the first and third innings stand up. Tucholski earned the mound victory with 12 strikeouts in five innings.
Scott posted a two-inning save despite permitting a run in the sixth inning. He scattered three hits and struck out two.
Moser drove in both of his team's runs. He finished with two hits.
Lorenzo Maiorelli added two hits for Perkiomen School. Tucholski and Liberi each scored a run.
The Panthers will conclude their five-game homestand against Solebury School (April 22) and Faith Christian Academy (April 30) before hitting the road May 2 to face Shipley School.
