Mary E. Slick
2026-04-20

Mary E. Slick, resident of Red Hill, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026, at the remarkable age of 101. Born in Philadelphia, she was the cherished daughter of the late Melchior and Katherine (Cziraky) Abel. Mary was predeceased by her loving

husband, Harry W. Slick, with whom she shared 31 happy years before his passing in 1976.

Mary graduated from Wilfred Academy of Hair Beauty, and her passion for hairstyling led her to a fulfilling career as a hairdresser at Demario Hair Styling on Kensington Avenue in Philadelphia. Her artistry and dedication were evident in every client she served, and she took great joy in making others feel beautiful.

A member of St. Philip Neri Church in Pennsburg, Mary's faith was a guiding force in her life. She was committed to her community, volunteering at the local thrift shop in the Upper Perkiomen Valley, where her kind spirit and willingness to help others shone through.

In her leisure time, Mary found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved sewing, crocheting, cooking, and baking, often sharing her creations with family and friends. Most importantly, she cherished her family above all else. Mary was a devoted mother to her daughters: Mary O'Brien (Joe) and Catherine Olsen (Art); a beloved grandmother to her grandchildren: Katie Bartechko (Jeremy), Michael O'Brien (Andrea), Dan O'Brien (Stephanie), Jennifer Jones (Michael), and Erik Olsen; and great-grandmother to: Brooke, Addie, Evan, Lily and Joe. The bonds she nurtured with her family were her greatest treasures, and her love for them will forever be remembered.

Mary E. Slick's gentle spirit and unwavering love will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you honor Mary's memory by showing kindness to others, as she so often did.

Services will be private the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home.
