I guess the guerilla in the room right now is the recent events in Venezuela. Nearly everyone (if not everyone) has an opinion.
Manuel Noreaga and his wife, Cilia Flores, were snatched from their home in Caracas Venezuela on early Saturday morning.
Fortunately for me, I was watching the news shortly after it happened. I thought this as a good opportunity to follow the "big three" national news channels. For complete, up-to-the-minute coverage an evaluate them.
Two out of the three channels did just that. Reporting, updating, and clarifying as best the could. The third, instead of reporting on the event, spent their coverage attacking and accusing United States leaders instead of covering the events.
I wondered if they even knew what was happening.
I wanted the news; finger pointing can come later. What happened, was anybody hurt, where is Maduro and his wife at now, - you know information not finger pointing that can and will come at the appropriate time.
I kept channel-hopping and it wasn't until 9 a.m. that any news starting coming from the third channel. I wondered how folks glued to that channel new anything about the event.
Many politicians woke up and jumped on social media, not to seek information but to point fingers before seeking information.
I will welcome any country that wants to become the 51st in the United States but that country needs to want that status. I do not favor taking it against their will.
The situation in Venezuela will be decided in time. I hope the drug-trafficing will cease, their get freed from terror, and a normal transition will take place.
As Pennsburg native and founder of Moral-Rearmament (now Initiatives of Change), who was nominated multiple times for the Nobel Peace Prize, once wrote; "It's not who's right but what's right.'
Friend, foe, or justice. In the case of Manuel and his wife, who or what will make the final decision?
