Gloria H Souder
2026-01-05

Gloria H Souder, 84, formerly of Perkiomenville, passed away peacefully at Pennsburg Manor, on Monday, December 29, 2025.

She was the loving wife of the late Kenneth Souder, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage before his death in 2023.

Born in Franconia Township, PA, she was the daughter of the late Aldus and Dorothy (Hackman) Derstine and graduated from Pennridge High School in 1958.

Gloria was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who had a love for books and babies. She held positions throughout her life as the librarian's aid and assistant at Perkiomen Valley High School library, Lansdale Public Library, and Upper Perkiomen Valley Library. She also worked for a time at Jerusalem Lutheran Day Care Center and devoted time to the March of Dimes, countless hours to Girl Scouts, the New Hanover Upper Frederick Elementary School library, as well as Head Start.

In her free time, Gloria enjoyed playing piano, gardening, crocheting, counted cross-stitch, capturing life with her ever present camera, and for decades made Christmas jammies for her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She cherished every moment spent with loved ones and found great joy in being a part of their lives, whether celebrating milestones, sharing a holiday meal, or having a visit. She loved having conversations and debates about life, current events, and enjoyed rousing discussions with the Socrates Cafe at the UPV Library.

She is survived by her children: Connie, Marc and wife Anna, Tim and partner Jim, Lisa and partner Matthew, as well as 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Her stepchildren: Deborah and husband William, Wendy and husband Dave, Lori and husband Dean, as well as 8 step grandchildren and 10 step great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by a son, Christopher Faulkner and step-son, Kenneth Souder Jr.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home.
