Stanley C. Friday, 103, of Souderton, formerly of Pennsburg, passed away on

Sunday, December 28, 2025. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret Ann LaRue Friday, who preceded him in death on December 19, 2025, and the late Marcella B. Friday.

            Born in West Conshohocken, Stanley was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine Friday.

            Stanley proudly served in the United States Army and was highly decorated for his service during World War II. He served as a scout with Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 317th Regiment, 80th Infantry Division, fighting on the front lines from Normandy through Austria. During his service, he was wounded twice—once by artillery shrapnel near Argentan, and again during a hand-to-hand bayonet encounter in the Battle of the Bulge. He lost his closest friend and scouting partner, Kenneth Monday, to a direct artillery hit in France; Kenneth's final words were, "Is Friday OK?"

            Stanley witnessed several satellite camps of Buchenwald and the Ebensee concentration camp in Austria. Following the war, he endured lifelong struggles with PTSD, taking years to readjust to civilian life. In an effort to regain stability, he later joined the United States Navy. Though the memories of war followed him throughout his life, Stanley persevered, building a meaningful, successful life and becoming an inspiration to many.

           Among his many honors, Stanley received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. In 2019, during a return trip to Normandy, he was awarded the French Legion of Honor Medal, which he humbly accepted on behalf of the brothers he lost in the war. Stanley was truly a part of history and a true American hero who will be deeply missed.

            Following his military service, Stanley was a member of the Eastern Atlantic States Carpenters Union and worked as a superintendent on numerous job sites, including the Limerick Nuclear Power Plant. He was respected for his strong work ethic, leadership, and dedication.

            In his free time, Stanley enjoyed flying, attending air shows, and gardening.

            He is survived by his two daughters, Katherine D. Friday and Diane S. Friday; two grandchildren, Todd Harrington (Bao) and Tera Galluppi; his great-granddaughter, Halle Harrington; a sister Catherine White and several nieces and nephews.

            In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by his brothers, John, Walter, and Joseph Friday, and his sisters, Jean Kurkowski, Pearl Perry, and Dorothy Schlosman.

            A combined funeral service for Stanley and LaRue will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 2, at Immanuel Leidy's Church, 273 W. Cherry Lane, Souderton, PA 18964. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
