Mary Louise (Finkbeiner) Proffit
2025-12-03

Mary Louise (Finkbeiner) Proffit, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on the morning of December 1, 2025, at the age of 76. Born in Pennsylvania, MaryLou was the cherished daughter of the late Benjamin and Mary (Zappas) Finkbeiner.

She married David Eugene Proffit, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage until his passing earlier this year. Together, they built a family rooted in faith, service, and love.

MaryLou was known for her warmth, devotion, and steadfast support of her family and community. She was deeply involved in parish life at St. Philip Neri Church in Pennsburg, where she and David were active members. She supported her children's and grandchildren's endeavors with pride, from Scouting activities to academic and professional achievements.

Professionally she evolved from hairdresser to cook at the Country Place in Perkasie to her own practice as a massage therapist. Her hands poured love into the world through all these things. Her life was marked by quiet strength, compassion, and a commitment to service.

MaryLou's legacy lives on in the values she instilled in her family and the countless lives she touched with her kindness. She is survived by her children, Alison Proffit of East Greenville; Brian Proffit and wife Michelle of East Greenville; daughter-in-law Debra of California City; grandchildren: Andrew, Samantha, Michael and wife Raylen, and Steffany; great-grandchildren, Ezekiel, Zoey, and Marina; and siblings, Patricia Strassler and husband, Robert, Michael Finkbeiner and Joy Ginanni and husband, John. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by, step-son, David Kevin Proffit and step-granddaughter Ashley Proffit.

Viewings will be held at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St., East Greenville, PA 18041 Thursday evening, December 11th from 6-7 p.m. and Friday morning December 12th from 10 to 10:45 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be private. For those that aren't able to attend in person, the service can be seen live on Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home's Facebook page starting at 11 a.m.
