PPL Foundation Celebrates 10 years
2025-11-06

This year marks a special milestone for the PPL Foundation as it celebrates 10 years of making a meaningful difference in the communities PPL's utilities serve across Pennsylvania and Rhode Island. Since its founding in 2015, the Foundation has proudly invested over $35 million to strengthen education and create vibrant, sustainable communities.

"At the heart of the PPL Foundation is a deep commitment to empowering people and organizations that are working every day to make life better for others," said Lissette Santana, president of the PPL Foundation. "We're proud of what we've accomplished together over the past decade, and we're excited to keep building brighter futures for the next generation and for the individuals and families who enrich our communities every day."

PPL Foundation was created by PPL to empower changemakers in communities PPL serves and drive positive impact through nonprofit partnerships. The Foundation's mission reflects PPL's strong connection to its neighbors, a connection that for more than a decade has extended beyond the essential energy PPL provides.

PPL Foundation grants have been used to support high-impact initiatives, delivering tangible results such as innovative STEM-focused early education classrooms, workforce development programs in rural and urban neighborhoods and critical services such as rapid rehousing and food access for neighbors in need.

In addition to grants, the PPL Foundation supports a number of impactful partnerships that serve to strengthen communities and empower future generations. From advancing education and sustainability to supporting essential human services, these efforts reflect a deep dedication to creating a brighter, more equitable future for all.

United Way – Thanks to PPL Foundation's dollar-for-dollar match of PPL employee and retiree contributions, the PPL Foundation has contributed more than $23 million to United Way organizations. These funds help address critical needs such as food insecurity, housing, education and health services.

Brighter Future Scholarships – As part of its commitment to a reliable, resilient and cleaner energy future, the PPL Foundation has awarded $600,000 in scholarships to support students passionate about sustainability and grid modernization. Through partnerships with a network of schools, these scholarships support students pursuing degrees and technical certifications in fields that will shape our energy future.

STEM Education Awards – More than $250,000 has been awarded to exceptional teachers who bring science, technology, engineering and math to life in the classroom. These educators inspire the next generation of innovative thinkers through hands-on learning and student-centered instruction.

From supporting grassroots nonprofits to investing in future leaders and educators, the PPL Foundation's first decade has been defined by partnership, purpose and progress. As it looks to the future, the PPL Foundation remains committed to helping communities thrive and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to shine.
