Floyd Open Hosts Record 500 Golfers
Written by Staff Report
2025-08-06

Five hundred golfers participated in the 34th annual Floyd Open at the Macoby Run Golf Course. Jayson Loose – who runs the pro shop at the course, located at 5275 McLean Station Road in Marlborough Township – considers that figure a record.

Organizers added a few additional foursomes for this year's event, according to Loose. He said the event likely won't grow in the future.

Open's Saturday afternoon flight.

Golfers participated in two flights on Saturday, Aug. 2 and Sunday, Aug. 3. The overall low score in the scramble came during the final group. Dave Ott, Dave Howard, Joe Corcoran and Mike Stadnycki shot a combined 55 on the 18-hole course during the afternoon Sunday flight.

Doug Evans, Christian Evans, Kieran Evans and Nick Palumbo won the Saturday morning flight with a score of 57. Glenn Link, Joe Dulin, Andy Hawkins and Brian Johnson fired a 59 to win the Sunday morning flight.

Mike Lynch, Mason Lynch, Joe Dobry and Matt Hudson won Saturday's second flight. They combined to shoot a 60.

Jayson Loose, Dan Loose, Kyle Saylor and Brandon Frickmann fired a 58. They finished second in the Saturday morning flight. Brett Bozzelli, Jack Douglass, Pete Hoff and Dean Bell ended up one stroke behind in the flight.

Jim Felbinger, Gary Schultz, Tom Wolgast and Jason Karian finished second in the Sunday afternoon flight with a 58. Rob Reed, Eric Olinick, Keith Olinick and Ken Olinick were one stroke behind.

During the Sunday morning flight, Bill Bennett, Blake Bennett, Austin Bennett and Gene Gaugler ended up in second place. They posted a 61.

During the Saturday afternoon flight, two foursomes posted an identical score of 61. However, Dave Little, Steve Kumor, Bob Young and Sean Kritzman edged Roberta Simmons, Brian Johnson, Vince Helo and Andy Hawkins for second place by posting a birdie on hole No. 12, a par-4 covering 384 yards from the white tee.
