Joan K. Gayley
2025-07-26

            Joan Kathryn Gayley, 88, of Montrose, PA passed away peacefully in her

sleep, Saturday, July 20, 2025.  Born in Red Hill, Pennsylvania, 

the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Bricker.

            Joan was a member of South Montrose Community Church and Fairdale Methodist Church. Joan was a volunteer and board member of the former Susquehanna County Red Cross Chapter and the Fairdale Grange.

            Before retiring in 2020, Joan was employed by YAP-Youth Advocate Program as an Early Childhood Educator.

            Joan was the matriarch of our family, and the glue that held the family together. She immensely enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; she was always traveling to their various activities to see competitions and games.  She also enjoyed spending time with her friends playing cards. 

            Survivors include Daughter, Valerie A. Gayley of Montrose, PA; son Bruce (Deborah) Gayley of Media, PA; Grandchildren; John (Brianna), Kathryn (Matthew), Cassandra (Derek), Andrea (Daniel) and Sandra (Timothy); 8 great-grandchildren; a sister Barbara Duefer of Bethlehem, PA, and 2 brothers; Joseph Bricker of Red Hill, PA, Douglas (Sherry) Bricker of East Greenville, PA and a brother-in-law Gene (Randi) Marks of East Greenville, PA. In addition to her husband Thomas J. Gayley, her son Thomas J. Gayley II, her brother Charles Bricker and sister Mary Jo Marks predeceased her.

            Services: Monday, July 28, at 2:00 p.m., at Bartron-Myer Funeral Home Inc, 382 Church Street, Montrose, PA. Visitation: one hour prior at the funeral home.

            Instead of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Fairdale Grange #1157, 31 Lake Ave. Montrose, PA 18801.

            A private inurnment will be held in her hometown.
