Trumbauersville Borough Council granted enthusiastic approval on Thursday night to a proposal by Air Force Veteran Paul Gerhart, Jr., to create a memorial honoring service members at the borough's Veterans Park. Gerhart raised more funds than expected for the project.
Private donations were sufficient that the memorial will cost the borough nothing. As a result, his plans for pavers and statues at the park to honor veterans will be expanded to include a wall behind the pavers with military park benches. There will be banners along with separate flags commemorating the six service branches of the United States of America. The Merchant Marine is now recognized as a service branch.
The backstop at the baseball field that is not used will be removed to ensure the memorial will have enough room. The macadam walkway at the park will be expanded so that it is Americans with Disabilities (ADA) compliant. The statues at the park that honor veterans will be constructed of concrete. Gerhart noted, "Veterans deserve to be honored and recognized for their service to our country." He opined that Trumbauersville will be a beacon for the future.
Dedication of the Veterans Memorial is expected to be held on Veterans Day, 2025. Ron Bracalente, CEO of Bracalente Manufacturing, offered to assist with the erection of the memorial. Contact Paul Gerhart, Jr. at 267-992 4973 to donate to the memorial fund.
In other news, Bracalente inquired about the status of his application for a zoning change from residential to limited industrial on land he owns in Trumbauersville and Milford Township. Currently the land is in agricultural production.
Bracalente was informed that the Trumbauersville Planning Commission, an appointed advisory body to the elected borough council, recommended a moratorium on building in the borough. However, a moratorium is not permitted. Bracalente's zoning application will proceed to the Milford Township Planning Commission for its review. Based on Milford Township's Planning Commission comments, the zoning application will be forwarded to the Bucks County Planning Commission for review.
Bracalente Manufacturing Group is an international company centered in Trumbauersville for over 75 years. It would like to increase its building envelope in the town where it began. It needs a zoning change to limited industrial to expand. The company owns approximately 9.45 acres in Trumbauersville and 11.9 acres in Milford Township. Its headquarters in Trumbauersville sits on 5.39 acres.
The borough council discussed, with the borough engineer, Cowan Associates, possible preparation of a feasibility study in anticipation of the borough's application for a planning grant for Well #2.
A question was raised whether speeding violations detected by the borough speed signs are reported to the state police. The borough sends all speeding violations to the state police. However, the borough has no control over state police patrols. As a rule, state police response is based on the priority of the call.
The borough reviewed several local municipalities towing ordinances. Most of the ordinances were similar. The ordinances will be sent to Borough Solicitor Colby Grimm for review.
Ovata Tree Company will remove three dead ash trees for $1,225.
The borough municipal building and gutters need to be replaced. The borough will solicit bids for at least the replacement of the gutters.
