standings and postseason remain uncertain.
Inclement weather disrupted the schedule, according to Post 184 Manager Rick Rossiter. The team was scheduled to conclude their regular season on Wednesday, July 9, against Nor-Gwyn, and the league playoffs were slated to start the following day.
However, the Indians (12-3) and the two-time defending state champion Blue Jays (13-2) might end the regular season atop the standings with the same record. A tie-breaker could be necessary to determine the regular season champion and one of two league berths in the Region 2 Tournament, scheduled for July 18-22 at Bear Stadium in Boyertown.
"Everything is up in the air," Rossiter wrote in a text message.
Ben Godshall pitched the Perkiomen to its third consecutive league victory on Monday, July 7. In a 5-1 victory over Plumstead, he racked up 11 strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings.
Godshall scattered six hits and issued one walk. Jackson Long recorded the final two outs.
Owen Williams went 3-for-3 and scored two runs for Post 184. Jack Schramm added two hits and drove in two runs.
Cole Pierce added two hits and stole a base for the team that scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning on four hits. Doubles by Jordin Dice and Williams to start the game opened the scoring.
Schramm's RBI single extended the lead to 2-0. Williams added the third run on a throw from the outfield on the play. Schramm eventually crossed the plate on a passed ball on a strikeout by Brayden Adam.
Perkiomen capped the scoring in the third inning. Williams delivered a leadoff double and scored on Pierce's single to right field.
Post 184 took advantage of seven hits and four Doylestown errors to post a 10-7 league win over the weekend. Jackson Long drove in a team-high four runs on Sunday, June 6, at Bonekemper Field.
Dice and Pierce each scored three runs for the Indians (11-3), who registered six unearned runs and stole three bases. Long's two-run single in the bottom of the third inning snapped a 2-2 tie.
Perkiomen – which added three runs in the fourth and fifth innings, respectively – opened its scoring in the bottom of the first inning when two runners crossed the plate on a dropped third strike by Doylestown catcher Matthew Sharkey.
Pierce tossed five innings to earn the mound victory. He allowed two earned runs on four hits while walking four and striking out three.
Last week, Quakertown earned a measure of revenge with a 14-7 victory over Perkiomen. Cole Reich led his team with five RBIs on three hits in the Bux-Mont League on Wednesday, July 2.
Reich delivered a sacrifice fly in the second inning, a two-run double in the third and a two-run single in the seventh for the Blue Jays, who lost the earlier game in the season series, at Bonekemper Field. Gerry Stanizola and Justin Hankinson each posted two hits and scored three runs.
Jackson Gilman delivered two hits and two RBIs for Quakertown, which led 9-3 through three innings against Long, the Indians starting pitcher. Cooper Natisin added two hits and scored two runs.
Perrone pitched the final six innings for Post 242 to earn the victory in relief. He scattered eight hits and allowed four runs.
Leadoff hitter Owen Williams had two hits and scored two runs for Post 184, which rallied for three runs in the bottom of the first inning on one hit and five walks by Quakertown starting pitcher Jarred Housten to force a 3-3 tie.
Kyle Mazzie's two-out, bases-loaded walk forced in the first run. Dice and Brayden Adam both scored on wild pitches.
Stanizola's RBI double put Quakertown, the two-time defending state champs, ahead for good in the second inning. Reich followed with a sacrifice fly to put his team ahead 5-3.
The Indians scored all their runs in three straight innings in a 7-0 win over Pennridge on Thursday, July 3. They scored three unearned runs in the fourth inning to snap a scoreless tie.
Long added an RBI single in the fifth inning for Perkiomen, which added three runs in the sixth.
