Perkiomen Post 184's American Legion baseball team extended its winning streak to four games with a doubleheader sweep last weekend. Cole Pierce capped his team's dominance with an impressive mound performance on Sunday, June 22.

of the seventh inning to preserve a 6-5 victory in the Bux-Mont League at Bonekemper Field. In the early game, the Indians rolled to a 10-5 win.
In the second game, Pierce – who recorded the final five outs – struck out pinch hitter Thomas Hertz, induced the next hitter into a shallow fly ball and threw strike three past the final hitter with the bases loaded to save the game for starter Brandon Godshall.
Post 184 scored the decisive run in the top of the sixth inning. Jackson Long, who led off the inning with a triple to left field, came home with two outs on a dropped third strike. Owen Williams swung at strike three, but reached on a wild pitch.
Jordin Dice and Williams each drove in two runs for Perkiomen (6-2 overall, 4-1 Bux-Mont), which scored four runs on four hits in the top of the fourth inning to overcome a 2-1 deficit. Jackson Long and Godshall finished with two hits apiece.
Godshall's bunt single scored Kyle Mazzie, who stole third during the at-bat, to force a 2-2 tie, Williams' RBI grounder put his team ahead 3-2. Dice's two-out, two-run single to right field capped the rally.
The Britties chased Godshall – who earned the win after surrendering two earned runs on nine hits – after scoring two unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to trim a 6-3 deficit. Two runs scored on an infield error on a ball off the bat of Tyler Moore against Pierce. However, the pitcher induced a fly ball to end the inning.
The Indians relied on a nine-hit barrage to win the early game. A four-run rally in the bottom of the sixth inning extended a 6-5 advantage. Two scored on Ben Godshall's sacrifice fly.
Ben Godshall earned the mound victory. He allowed five runs on five hits and five walks over 4 2/3 innings while striking out nine.
Adam and Brandon Godshall each drove in a team-high three runs. Pierce and Williams contributed two hits and scored twice. Williams also registered three of his team's five stolen bases.
Down 3-2, Post 184 rallied for three runs in the bottom of the third inning. Jack Schramm's double put the team ahead. Brandon Godshall's run-scoring hit capped the flurry.
Two days earlier, the Indians posted a non-league road victory over the Reading Groundhogs. They scored eight runs in the top of the seventh inning to post a 10-4 win at George Field on Friday, June 20.
Sean Nielsen finished with four RBIs, including a three-run triple during the decisive seventh. Owen Wilson, Schramm, Dice and Ben Godshall each added multiple hits.
Topher Burns earned the mound victory in relief. He scattered three hits and struck out five in three innings.
Perkiomen resumes its schedule on the road against Doylestown on Wednesday, June 25. A game at Coatesville is scheduled for Friday. The team is scheduled to host Pennridge on Saturday.
