O'Hara threw the javelin 139 feet, 6 inches at Coatesville High School on Saturday, May 17. The effort shattered her own school record.
Darius Reid finished fourth in the high jump. The sophomore cleared 6 feet, 7 inches on Friday, May 16.
Micah Keller earned two gold medals. The senior repeated as adaptive shot put champion with a throw of 22 feet, 4 inches. He also won the 100 meter wheelchair dash with a time of 20.41 seconds.
All three advanced to this weekend's PIAA Class 3A Championships at Shippensburg University. Keller competed there last season, earning a silver medal.
O'Hara delivered her best throw of the day on her first effort. She prepared well, according to head coach Clayton Mowrer. "She was ready to go," Mowrer said.
The coach described three of her initial four throws as high quality. However, he said O'Hara displayed the technique on the initial throw.
"Morgan delivered a lot of speed on that throw," Mowrer said of O'Hara, who finished nearly 20 feet behind champion Ava Flicker, a junior from Perkiomen Valley.
O'Hara ended up in 16th place in the discus. She registered a throw of 107 feet, 5 inches to help the Tribe girls finish in a tie with Methacton for 30th place.
Samantha Pedrick failed to qualify for states. The senior finished 8th after clearing 10 feet, 6 inches on Saturday.
Pedrick needed to clear 11 feet to reach the top five and advance, according to Mowrer. He said she couldn't make the necessary adjustments in three attempts.
"Samantha generated plenty of height," he said. "She was going through the bar, instead of over it."
Asher Zonis finished ninth in the long jump. The junior leaped 21 feet, 5 3/4 inches to help the Tribe boys finish in a sixth-place tie for 37th overall.
In the high jump, Reid cleared the same height as bronze medal winner Declan Gallagher, a junior from Owen J. Roberts. The timing of his fouls cost the Indians jumper a place, according to Mowrer.
Trip Campbell, a senior from North Penn, won with a jump of 6 feet, 11 inches. Kennett Senior Xavier McGreal finished second at 6 feet, 9 inches.
"Darius has the potential to clear seven feet," Mowrer said. "He's only a sophomore. When he hits his strides and holds his arch correctly, he will pull it off."
Drue Chauhan registered Quakertown's top finish. The senior took second place in the javelin (187 feet). Junior Mac Mitchell finished fifth (174 feet, 10 inches).
Kieran Hennessy finished sixth in the discus. The senior registered a throw of 150 feet, 6 inches.
Two Panthers sprinters finished in the top 10. Ashlyn Calabria finsihed in ninth place in the 200 meter dash (25.71 seconds). Jillian Storey finished 10th in the 400 meter dash (58.49 seconds).
