Joseph M. Szalwinski
2025-04-25

Joseph M. Szalwinski, a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend, left this world peacefully on April 22, 2025, at the age of 69. Born in Philadelphia, to Alfred and Helen (Dehel) Szalwinski, Joseph was a proud graduate of North East Catholic School for Boys in 1974.

Joseph dedicated many years of his life to the construction industry as a valued member of Union 332, International Laborers Union of North America, from which he retired in 2010. He embodied the spirit of hard work, earning the respect and friendship of colleagues along the way.

Joseph was also a devoted member of the Fishtown Athletic Club Alumni Association, where he served as a former recording secretary. Joseph was a faithful Christian man with a heart full of kindness.

He found great joy in bike riding, and those lucky enough to see him cruising by would always receive a friendly wave. His love for life was evident in his many cherished friendships and his generous spirit, often marked by his willingness to lend a helping hand or make a donation to those in need.

He is survived by his beloved granddaughter, Alyssa Szalwinski; sisters, Alfreda Adiletto and Alice Szalwinska; his brother Stephen Szalwinski and wife, Joan Ann; sister-in-law, Beverly Szalwinski; brother-in-law, Edward Webb; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his daughter, Jamie E. Szalwinski; and siblings, Helen Tidd, Mary Webb and Frank Szalwinski.

A funeral mass for Joseph will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 1325 Klinerd Rd., Pennsburg, PA 18073 with a burial following in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Red Hill.

There will be two viewings, first on Thursday evening May 1st, from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St., East Greenville, PA 18041 and again on Friday morning at the funeral home from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
