John B. Walter
2025-04-22

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John B. Walter,

who left this world peacefully on April 19, 2025, at the age of 73. Born in Alabama City, AL, John grew up in Sumneytown, PA.

He spent his later years in Perkiomenville, PA, where he was a beacon of love and laughter to those around him.

A 1970 graduate of Upper Perk High School, John dedicated 36 years of his life to Allen Myers in Worcester, where he worked as a skilled diesel mechanic. His expertise in the automotive industry was matched only by his genuine desire to mentor young students at North Montco Technical Career Center in the diesel truck and automotive technology programs.

John's passion extended beyond his career; he also found immense joy in assisting his daughter, Kristy, at Kindred Integrative Veterinary Services, where he proudly took on the title of "Official Veterinary Gopher."

John's life was filled with love and adventure. He married Barbara (Morton) Walter in 1999, and together they shared 25 wonderful years filled with cherished memories. A devoted husband, father, and brother, John was lovingly survived by his wife, Barbara; his daughter, Kristy Walter and husband, Chris Weigner; son, John Walter and wife, Leslie; step-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Natalie; his sister, Judy Weiss; and brother-in-law, Eugene Styer; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by sister, Helen "Joann" Styer.  His family was the center of his world, and he expressed his love for them in countless meaningful ways.

Known for his kind heart and infectious sense of humor, John brought joy into the lives of those who knew him. His hobbies included woodworking, fishing, hunting, and camping, with memorable trips such as a cherished cruise to Nova Scotia and a birthday spent in Las Vegas. John's spirit will live on in the laughter he shared and the love he imparted.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30th at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St., East Greenville, PA. A visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in John's name to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) or the Montgomery County SPCA, 1059 Sweisford Rd, Perkiomenville, PA 18074.
