Burglars Strike Four Marlborough Properties
Written by Bradley Schlegel, Staff Writer
2025-04-02

A Limerick man is accused of five burglaries in Marlborough Township earlier this year. Trent Thomas, 32, faces 30 felony counts and two misdemeanors from incidents between Jan. 4 and Feb. 6.

Law enforcement officials accuse Thomas of conspiring with two other suspects to steal multiple items, including various tools and weapons, and causing damage at four properties in the township during a five-week period and selling stolen goods at a Reading pawn shop.

Last month, Montgomery County Detectives accused Thomas of seven counts each of burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking, six for theft by unlawful taking, two conspiracy counts and one each for one for dealing in proceeds of unlawful activities and criminal use of a communication facility against him, according to information posted on a state judicial website.

A police criminal complaint filed on March 12 in the Red Hill court of District Judge Maureen Coggins identifies the total value of stolen items and damage from five of the six thefts at $43,857.56.  It states that the detectives and the Marlborough Township Police Department investigated burglaries at one commercial property, one residential location and the Scout Camp.

Law enforcement officials utilized footprints, cell phone data analysis and video surveillance to arrest Thomas, whose social media page states that he owns a tattoo parlor in Limerick. Court records claim he has an extensive criminal history.

Thomas has been arrested 10 times since 2007 and has been found guilty six times, according to the legal document. It states that most recently, he was arrested in August by the Pottstown Police Department for burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking and criminal mischief. The case remains ongoing.

In January, Marlborough police responded twice to the same residence on Upper Ridge Road. At 9:08 a.m. on Jan. 4, a resident reported the theft of an 18-volt DeWalt 16-Gauge trim gun, two 20 volt DeWalt 16-gauge trim 10 guns, an M-18 Milwaukee angle nail gun and trim gun, a DeWalt 20 volt 5-amp battery, a DeWalt 10-inch table saw, a DeWalt 12-inch compound sliding miter saw, a DeWalt electric jigsaw and a DeWalt 20volt multi tool, DeWalt XR 7 1/4 20 volt circular saw, a DeWalt 8 amp batter and a Bosch construction style radio. A door and a Thera-Tru light were also smashed. Police estimated the monetary loss at $5,002.

On Jan. 20, another resident reported a theft at a barn at the rear of the same property. He told police that he discovered a broken window and that he had no idea when the incident occurred.

At the scene, an officer determined that unknown suspects, who entered the barn by smashing the rear window at the west corner, removed a M3 GTS carbon fiber wing off the rear of a 2012 BMW E92 M3 as well as an unknown make log splitter, two Husqvarna chain saws, a generator, and an unknown make chainsaw from the barn. The owner identified the value of the items at $18,408.

Eight days later, a sergeant took DNA swabs from several areas on the BMW. He also discovered further evidence located under the BMW and on a windowsill next to the rear of the BMW, along with a footprint in the northeast corner of the barn that matched the footprint discovered outside the residence, according to court records.

At 9:01 a.m. on Feb. 4, local authorities were dispatched to Aggressive Power Products, Inc., located at 6301 5th St., for a reported burglary. An employee told police he arrived at work at 7 a.m. and found a Conex container at the rear of the property had been broken into. The employee valued the stolen items at $10,856.

While inside the container an officer observed several footprints on the floor. One found in the container was very similar to footprints recovered from the previous crime scenes, according to the legal document.

Surveillance video obtained from one neighboring business identified a suspicious vehicle, a dark-colored, four-door sedan parked in the lower lot at 10:07 p.m. on Jan. 31.

Similar footage from another business depicts an unknown male crossing 5th Street, towards Aggressive Power Products at 10:09 p.m. Three minutes later, a light above the garage door shuts off.

At 10:23 p.m., a male is seen walking from Aggressive Power Products back to the parked vehicle. Three minutes later, a late model Honda Civic is seen entering the property. After sitting at the rear of the property for approximately 10 minutes, it then leaves the area.

Marlborough police responded to burglaries at BSA Camp Hart, located at 1300 Camp Road, on consecutive days last month. At 8:42 a.m. on Feb. 6, the agency received a phone call from the property caretaker after discovering that a slide door to the Heart Lodge Barn had been opened. The responding officer also discovered multiple rooms and been broken into, according to court records.

The items stolen included a Savage .22-gauge Mark II rifle, multiple BB and paintball guns along with various Milwaukee tools, a Bostitch air compressor, toolboxes, a DeWalt plastic compartment organizer, copper fittings, Kreg Jig kits, drill sets, saws and multiple other tools. The caretaker estimated the value at $9,576.56.

On a countertop outside the armory, the officer and the employee discovered a crow bar and a cigarette butt. The caretaker said he had no idea where the crow bar came from and that no one is allowed to smoke in the barn or property.

The following morning, at 7:22 a.m., an officer was dispatched back to the camp. Authorities determined that an Infocus projector model w240 and a Campers Nylon-vinyl grip handled axe had been stolen.

Both were valued at $370. The caretaker also reported that the dining hall was broken into and that a distinct gray toolbox with a unique design was stolen from a desk within the dry storage area of the dining hall.

A search warrant served Feb. 15 by the Montgomery County Detective Bureau and the Limerick Township Police at Thomas' residence allegedly turned up items that included a flash flight, wire spools, a red Milwaukee tool box, one pair of black Nike Air Force 1 shoes, one pair of tan Nike high top shoes, bolt cutters, gloves, a Ryobi drill set, pipe cutters, a blue Olympic rachet set and a .22 long rifle.

The Nike sneakers match the color and pattern of footwear Thomas was seen wearing at the pawn shop in Reading. The tread pattern of the sneakers appears identical to the tread pattern observed at several of the burglary crime scenes.

Thomas remains in Montgomery County jail after East Norriton District Judge Marc A. Alfarano set bail in the case at $75,000 monetary during a March 13 preliminary arraignment. A preliminary hearing, before Coggins, has been scheduled for 10 a.m. on Monday, April 14.
