Russell D. Blank
Russell D. Blank, 100 years and six months old, of New Oxford, Pa.,
formally of Red Hill, passed away on March 27.
He was born August 18, 1924, in Telford. He was the son of Russell B. Blank and Florence (Benner) Blank.
He was a graduate of East Greenville High School and enlisted in the Navy after graduation. He served aboard an aircraft carrier in the South Pacific during World War II. He earned the American Theatre Ribbon, the Asia Pacific Ribbon, with a silver star for four battles, the Victory Medal, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, with two bronze stars, and the Philippine Presidential Citation.
He graduated from Lehigh University with a BS in business administration in 1950 and moved to York, PA. He retired from Allis-Chalmers where he held the position of controller of the Hydro Turbine Division in 1986.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church when he lived in Red Hill and then became a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, in Dover, PA, where he served as youth director, church treasurer, and church council.
Russell is survived by three children, Jeffrey Blank, Linda Stabley, and Eileen Rinehart; six grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grand children, a sister, Joyce Allebach, of Frederick Living Community, and nieces and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a nephew, Brian Allebach.
A funeral Service will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church, on April 12, at 11:30, and he will be buried in St. Paul's Cemetery in Red Hill.
