At the March 11th meeting of the Upper Salford Board of Supervisors, an amendment to the agenda was added to include a resolution for an immediate burn ban. This is in response to a Declaration of a burning ban due to extreme dry conditions. This resolution is effective immediately. There will be no open burning in the township and that will remain in effect until the ban is no longer needed.
The Upper Salford Supervisors in consultation with the Upper Salford Fire department declared the emergency burn ban. This includes burn barrels. The township thanks all residents for their cooperation to keep the community safe.
Also, officials honored Roadmaster, Marty Lynch Jr. for 30 years of dedicated service to the community. Mr. Lynch was presented with a plaque for his service. "A token of appreciation for your hard work", said Chairman Kevin O'Donnell. Vice Chairman Ted Poatsy continued by saying, "Lots of stories … you are an extraordinary employee."
A major celebration will be taking place in the community on Saturday March 15th. The 25th Anniversary event will be marking the moment that Upper Salford Township, Montgomery County, and the Buckman Family joined forces to save Spring Mountain on March 14th, 2000. The event will include pond skimming, snow volleyball, live music, raffle prizes and fireworks. Detailed information is available on the Spring Mountain Adventures website.
In other news, under the treasures report, Secretary/Treasurer Amy Shafer stated that the 2025 Liquid Fuel Allocation funds are at $125, 277.50. The Municipal and County Liquid Fuels Programs support maintenance and construction efforts on locally owned roads, streets, and bridges. This is a very important aspect to a townships budget and community infrastructure maintenance.
