Ella Mae (Edge) Dillon
2025-03-05

On a beautiful day with "Blue Skies", Ella Mae (Edge) Dillon, age 105 years,

three months, and five days, of Red Hill, PA, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025 at her home surrounded by loved ones.

Ella was born November 26, 1919 on a homestead near Boyne Lake, Alberta, Canada to Charles Lincoln Edge (Manchester, England) and Margaret Harvey (Boyd) Edge Ridgewood (Philadelphia, PA).

Ella was the tenth child of eleven siblings.  She and her family returned to the United States when she was just a small child and lived near Alexandria, VA.  Ella talked often about her time at the farm, her blind horse, "Gentle Jim", and the moonlit nights her father would take the family ice skating on the creek behind the house.

Ella was a bookkeeper for Yale Laundry, a commercial laundry service, in Washington D.C., for 34 years.  It was here where she met "Bing".  Ella married Edgall "Bing" Dillon on March 22, 1941 and were married for 55 years.  They had no children.  Ella became a U.S. citizen in 1957.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgell "Bing" Dillon (1996); her parents, Charles Lincoln Edge (1929) and Margaret Harvey (Boyd) Edge Ridgeway (1970); and her brothers and sisters, Charles (1982), Samuel (1970); Margaret Elizabeth O'Gorman Snider (2000), John (1970), James (2000), Harvey (1992), George (1997), Beatrice Irene Apperson (2011), Florence Etta Anderson (2013), and Virginia Jean Edge (1923).

Ella is survived by her great nephews, Ronald Dillon and Richard Fahy, Jr.; great nieces, Donna (Fahy) Snyder, Debra (Fahy) Bailey, and Dana (Fahy) Tielemans; great grand nephews, Sean Bailey, and Eric Tielemans; and great grand nieces, Erin Bailey, Morgan (Tielemans) Roetman, and Lacey Tielemans.

Ella was a former member of the Temple Hills Baptist Church in Maryland, First Church of the Nazarene in Philadelphia, PA, and Faith Baptist Church in Sellersville, PA.

A private interment will be held in the Cumberland Cemetery, Media, PA.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Monaghan Funeral Home, Inc.  (215) 679-6400.
