Upper Hanover is looking to complete multiple roadside drainage repairs. Last week, the township's board of supervisors voted to apply for two grants.
The members approved an action item to complete a Montgomery County Conservation District Low Volume Roads application to implement roadside improvements on Green Hill and Soffa roads. Manager Anne Klepfer described the application as a work in progress.
On Green Hill Road, the goal is to repair a spring that causes water to flow across the road, resulting in icy conditions in the winter. That improvement will cost in the neighborhood of $10,000, according to Klepfer.
On Soffa Road, the funds would be utilized to improve roadside ditches, add ditch outlets, replace rotten pipes and improve the road base. The manager estimated that expense as $12,000
The municipality is applying for $193,466 through the Montgomery County 2040 Grant. The plan is to replace a drainage pipe on Montgomery Avenue. The pipe enters the roadway near the northwestern border of the Montgomery Woods neighborhood, according to an email from the manager.
