Diana E. “Dee” Scherzer
2025-02-25

Diana E. "Dee" Scherzer, aged 78, of Perkiomenville, departed this life

unexpectantly on Friday, February 21, 2025. Born in Fountain Hill, Bethlehem, she was a daughter Esther Way and the late Donald Way, Sr.

Diana was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, and friend who touched the lives of all who knew her.

A 1964 graduate of Upper Perkiomen High School, Diana dedicated many years to her role as a Floor Supervisor at Green Lane Hosiery. After her retirement, she embraced her true passion - being a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. Diana was married to her loving husband, Alfred "Fred" Scherzer, for 60 years.

Dee's greatest joy came from nurturing her family. She was a devoted mother to her sons, Walter and Jeffrey Scherzer, and took immense pride in creating a loving and welcoming home. Her selflessness and care extended beyond her family, as she volunteered her time at the Upper Perkiomen Valley Library, where she organized yearly book sales, showing her love for reading and community.

An avid reader herself, she found joy in the pages of every book. She also had a deep appreciation for nature; she found peace in gardening, bird watching, and rescuing and caring for her beloved cats.

She is survived by her mother, Esther Way, husband, Fred; her sons, Walter and wife, Kristin, and Jeffrey and partner, Jules; six grandchildren; her sister, Patricia McFarland; her brother, Donald Way; and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation time to celebrate and honor Dee's life will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St., East Greenville, PA 18041 with a celebration of life reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to The Upper Perkiomen Valley Library (www.upvlibrary.org/), Stray Cat Blues (www.straycatblues.org/ ) or Logan's Heroes Animal Rescue (www.lharinc.org/ ).
