Four-vehicle Crash in Milford Twp. Kills Two
Written by Staff Report
2025-02-05

A four-vehicle crash in Milford Township last weekend killed two people and sent two others to the hospital. The two who died are residents of Pennsburg, according to Scott Croop, the chief deputy coroner for Bucks County.

The coroner is not prepared to release the names of the deceased until further testing is completed, but Croop said on Wednesday morning that the office is fairly certain of the identities of the people who died in the Jan. 31 collision. The Bucks County District Attorney is investigating the incident, according to information provided by Trooper Nathan T. Branosky.

Officials will release their identities once forensic dentistry tests are completed. Croop said that could be delayed since the client his office utilizes was called to Washington, D.C. to aid in the recovery of a Jan. 29 midair collision between a regional jet and a U.S. Army helicopter over the Potomac River that killed 67.

A Quakertown woman suffered suspected serious injury during the collision on John Fries Highway north of Brinkman Road. Tori L. Gutshall, 29, was transported by ambulance to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest, according to a public information release report.

Authorities responded to the incident at 8:35 p.m. A 2003 Ford Explorer operated by Gutshall traveling north on John Fries Highway crossed the double yellow line and struck a 2020 Ford Escape traveling south.

Both the driver, identified only as a female, and the passenger, identified only as a male, of the Escape, suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. The vehicle went off the road into a wooded area and became fully engulfed in flames, according to the report.

A 2019 Volkswagen Atlas, operated by a 37-year-old Quakertown woman, trailing the Escape, attempted to avoid the collision but was hit by the Explorer. The driver and an 11-year-old female passenger in the Atlas both suffered possible injury and were transported to St. Luke's Quakertown.

The Atlas was also struck on the driver's side by a 2021 Ford Transit attempting to avoid the collision. The driver of the van, a 30-year-old Somerset, N.J. man and a passenger, a 33-year-old Reading woman, were not injured, according to information provided by the state police.
