On Wednesday, December 4th, the Quakertown Community School board held their annual reorganization meeting.
Todd Hippauf will retain his seat as president after every board member verbally stated their nomination when the secretary called roll.
Ronald Jackson began the meeting by explaining that the board was going to slightly change its procedure. "We are actually going to alter the method in which we vote. The policy committee met on Monday, Mr. O'Donnell took time to read the policy on how we are supposed to vote."
He continued to briefly explain the process as he read part of the policy. "The school directors shall annually, during the first week of December, elect members; president and vice president who shall serve for one year. All nominations shall be taken from the floor." He then continued that the president shall be nominated first and then vice president. This is all done by majority vote.
In the past, the board followed policy, however they did not incorporate a second vote if two individuals had the same number of votes. This year, instead of a traditional roll call, every member has one vote for one person. "That is how we are going to do it because that is what the policy says," said Jackson who was elected vice president
The vice president seat had four candidates. Member Jonathan Kern nominated Glen Iosue; David O'Donnell and Chris Spear nominated themselves; and Jackson was nominated by Todd Hippauf.
"Thank you for your hard work during the nominations process," said Hippauf.
