The Quakertown Business and Professional Women's Organization is supporting the 2024-2025 BPW/PA Project of Domestic Violence. The members heard from Jennifer Locker, director of the client services of A Woman's Place in Doylestown. The members wore their purple in support of October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

experiencing domestic problems. They are equipped to handle seven families that may wish to live at the shelter. They have a pantry, clothes and toys on site. The time frame of staying varies from family to family but nine months is the average. Counselors provide the needed emotional and social therapy, while an attorney is available for the families for legal counseling.
They have served over 2,000 families over the past 11 years. They have a hotline, 1-800-220-8116, with trained advocates to take calls from individuals in need. There is no barrier as to gender or socio-economic backgrounds. Everyone is heard.
The Quakertown BPW's President, Melissa Wieand, presented a check of $1,500 to Locker for A Woman's Place. She also presented $500 in gift cards from the club. The members collected numerous laundry pods and sponges for the pantry
Also, District Director Donna Jones, of Conshohocken, presented on behalf of the District Eleven of BPW, many gift cards to be given to the families at A Woman's Place. Also in attendance was Vicki McCarrick, the BPW/PA State Chair of Domestic Violence Awareness.
The Quakertown Business and Professional Women's Club meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month at Brick Tavern Inn, Quakertown. Networking at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. Reservations are required a week in advance. November's meeting will be on the 20th due to Thanksgiving.
