Barbara Haas
2024-08-04

            Barbara Haas, 91, of Chestnut Knoll Boyertown, and formerly of 

Sassamansville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 1st, 2024. She was the widow of Willard S. Haas, Jr.

            Born in West Rockhill Township, she was a daughter of the late Julius and Edith (Miller) Jakoby. Barbara was a 1950 graduate of East Greenville High School. She had a long and varied career which began as a clerk for the former Berman Motor Freight Company, then the former Essig Donut Shop, and the former Markley Pharmacy, all of Pennsburg.

            She then became a hairdresser and worked in Schwenksville. Following that, she was a clerk at the former RiteAid Pharmacy and later at the former Wendy's Flowers. Barbara was a member of New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ where she was a member of the quilting group and helped with funeral luncheons.

            Surviving are children: Debra Joan, wife of Farley Nester, of Barto, Christine A., wife of Douglas Simonds, of Black Mountain, NC, and David K. Haas, and his wife, Lisa, of Blue Barn Road, Allentown; grandchildren: Mandy, Matthew, Jeremy, Elizabeth, Ben, Eric, Jared, Nicole, and Nathan; great-grandchildren: Owen, Gabriel, Evelyn, Samuel, Marigold, Elliott, Avery, and Lacey; and siblings: Doris Conrad, William Jakoby, Edward Jakoby, and Sandy Harter.

            A viewing will be from 1-2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6th, 2024, at New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ, 1070 Church Road East Greenville, PA 18041.A service will follow at 2 p.m. She will be laid to rest in New Goshenhoppen Cemetery.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church.
