New Hanover police are investigating a road rage incident from Wednesday night. Local authorities are asking the public's help in identifying an alleged shooter.
An unknown motorcycle rider fired a gun shot at a vehicle at approximately 8:15 p.m. in the area Big and Middle Creek roads. No one was injured, according to information provided by New Hanover police Chief Jay Ciarlello.
The incident started when a vehicle traveling southbound on Layfield Road at the intersection of Hoffmansville Road was passed erratically by a motorcycle, described as white and similar in style to a Suzuki GSR with a red under fairing with an extended swing arm, commonly referred to as being "stretched." Both motorists made a right on Big Road and continued westbound, according to the news release.
It states that in the area of Big Road and Middle Creek Road, the motorcycle operator – identified as a white male wearing jeans, a black sweatshirt, a dark colored full-face helmet and a dark colored backpack – shot at the car. The motorcycle continued westbound on Big Road. No one was injured, according to information provided by the department.
