2024-05-15

The Upper Perkiomen Business and Professional Women's Club has chosen Erin States as its March girl of the month. She is a senior at the Upper Perkiomen High School and the daughter of Karen and Donald States of Pennsburg.

Erin has been active in many sports and other activities during her four years at UPHS while maintaining a high grade point average (3.5). She has been in the National Honor Society for the last two years. Erin has played on the girls' basketball team for Upper Perk for four years and was captain this year. She was on the girls' track and field team for three years and was co-captain of the team in her junior year. For three years, she was also a part of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Powder Puff football team. For two years, she was on the student council and a part of the Link Crew. In her sophomore year, she was a part of the Perk Pals. In her junior year, she was on the girls' volleyball team and in FBLA and helped plan the Mini-THON at Upper Perk that year.

Basketball has been a large part of Erin's life for many years. She started out playing for the local youth basketball league in second grade and continued with it until 8th grade. When she was too old to play in the youth league, she volunteered to help coach the girls who were still in the league during her four high school years and wants to continue to help the girls on her breaks from college. With her high school basketball team, she has helped with clothing drives, packing meals for people in need for Meals on Wheels at Delaware Valley College, and also accomplished a very important fundraiser that raised $700 for pediatric cancer.

In addition to her studies and activities, she has had time this past year to be employed. She works at Tosco's in Pennsburg and Tosco's Italian Delight in Red Hill.

Erin plans to attend Salisbury University, in Maryland, to major in forensic psychology. In addition to her college studies, she was recruited for their girls' basketball team and will be playing basketball at the university.
