Pennsburg Council could hire a new lawyer to represent the borough next week. The members will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday to discuss the appointment of a solicitor.
According to President Patrick Suter, council will also consider a resignation letter from its current Solicitor Daniel I. Sager. On Wednesday, Suter said Sager submitted the letter to the municipality on Friday, April 19.
Asked to identify the content of the Sager's message, Suter summarized its content as "I'm going to take my ball and go home unless you play with me." The council president declined to comment further.
Sager did not immediately return a phone call to his office, located at 43 High St. in Pottstown, or an email message to his work account. The lawyer has served as the borough's primary solicitor since council's appointment of his firm, Sager & Sager Associates, in January 2020.
The firm succeeded Wolf, Baldwin & Associates, P.C., which had worked for the borough since 2012. Chuck Garner, a lawyer with the firm, had served council regularly for several years. Garner first started attending meetings on an occasional basis in 1988. He served as Pennsburg's primary solicitor since 1994.
