Quakertown Approves Agreement with American Power, Inc.
At the April 3rd meeting of the Quakertown Borough Council officials approved a proposed resolution regarding the 2023 EPPG Power Pool Participant agreement between American Municipal Power, Inc. and the Borough of Quakertown.
Under this agreement, the borough purchases the transmission of electric energy through a power supply and is entered into a power pool schedule. This is cost-effective for the borough.
Council approved the termination of the Freight House agreement between Ian Jeffery and the borough.
This has been an "amicable relationship," said Vice-President L. James Roberts, Jr. He explained that Jeffery would like to get out of the lease agreement a year earlier. SEPTA owns the building and the borough leases it out. This is a mutual termination between all parties.
The borough agreed to hire Maillie, LLP for the auditing services for Quakertown borough and Quakertown area Industrial and Commercial Development Authority for the 2023 fiscal year.
A third resolution was passed to dispose of all dated borough administrative records.
In other news, Councilwoman Mae Wear asked about the progress on the athletic field. Borough Manager Scott C. McElree stated that the field is "ready for play" however some things need to be finished. The electric panel for the scoreboard will be installed in the next few weeks. The stadium itself is complete.
The next steps are to upgrade the snack stands and restrooms.
"They did a great job. It looks great," said McElree.
He also explained that the borough is still honoring a relationship with the school district on the usage and maintenance of the athletic field. A usage of agreement is in the process of being drafted between the two parties.
